Accessibility

Monster.co.uk is committed to ensuring that our site is accessible to as wide an audience as possible. Some people with disabilities find using the web difficult and while we know that it is impossible to design a site that everyone can use with equal ease, there are many things that we can do to make it easier. If you encounter any difficulties using our site, please let us know. This will help us determine the changes we need to implement in future releases in order to make our site more accessible.

Navigation

There is one main navigation menu located towards the bottom of the page. A "jump to main navigation" link is provided at the top of each page so that you can jump directly to the main menu for quick access. The main menu is sometimes supplemented with an "In this Section" navigation menu for exploring the current section of the site. When present, this is located directly beneath the main navigation menu.

Layout

Text is laid out using style sheets which users can change in their browsers to make viewing easier for their individual requirements. Our visual design happily accommodates resizing text and, as relative units have been used, text can even be re-sized in Internet Explorer for Windows. If your browser or browsing device does not support style sheets at all, the content of each page is still readable. HTML used is XHTML 1.0 transitional.

Access Keys

Monster.co.uk website incorporates ACCESSKEY functionality. These keys aid accessibility and can be used to navigate the site quickly and easily. Simply hold down Alt (or Ctrl on a Macintosh), then press the corresponding number, release and then press return. The ACCESSKEY functionality used on the site is as follows:

Standards Compliance

Many areas of Monster.co.uk now conform to Level-A of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, including all Priority 1, most Priority 2 and some Priority 3 checkpoints as defined in the Guidelines. Our HTML is XHTML 1 Transitional and we use structured semantic markup.
